Who does not know the Greek salad (in Greek language ‘horiatiki salata’). The reputation of this salad is known worldwide. But many times that I had the chance to eat abroad it did not impress me at all. The original Greek salad is made in Greece and this is with every original dish. It tastes better at the country of its origin.

In Greece the taste of summer emerges when the weather is warm and our mouth craves for something cool. Tasty tomatoes, cucumbers, green onion, or dry onion, Greek olives, feta cheese, oregano, olive oil and small doze of vinegar make the greek salad the salad we are looking for. Unfortunately, many times you will see this salad served with oil that is not tasty as the virgin olive oil and bland tomatoes or cucumbers or white cheese instead of feta. In appearance it may still look the same but the taste cannot be compared. If you taste the greek salad during summer in Greece the chance to enjoy the genuine flavor is high. In Thessaloniki there are many good restaurants and taverns that offer genuine. Only try it during the summer. For me it makes no sense to try the Greek salad during another period of the year because the tomatoes and cucumbers are produced in the summer in Greece and in their season they are delicious! Imported tomatoes or cucumbers are cut before they become mature and they miss in taste by the time we eat them…
