The ‘politiki salad’ is an ordinary and delicious salad that is eaten by Greek during the winter. Its roots came to Greece together with the Greeks of Constantinople after the great persecution. The main ingredients are cabbage, carrot, celery, florina peppers, and green peppers, sometimes radish, vinegar and olive oil. It is a dish that needs preparation time because it needs to ‘stay’ for a while to pass its taste to all the ingredients and mainly to the cabbage but is a real taste and vitamins treasure. The ‘politiki salad’ accompanies almost all the main dishes and appetizers you can find in Greece. Definitely try it if you visit Thessaloniki during the winter months. It is not a simple cabbage cut in small pieces. You will realize the difference when you try it!
