Thessaloniki’s Museum of Photography is located at the port (Warehouse A, Dock 1st). The Museum was founded in 1998 and runs under the supervision of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports. Its mission is to present the different stages of photography as they appear today and through the time in combination with different types of photography spectrums and photography sensations (social, artistic, documentary photos, cinematographic etc.) Its main purpose is to educate the public in cultivating its visual aesthetic. Among the Museum’s activities is to host other exhibitions and also export some of its collections. It creates archives, digitalizes them and documents them in order to preserve and promote them. It also organizes the Photobiennale exhibition that is held in Thessaloniki and plans and implements various educational programs.
It is a very interesting Museum to visit especially for travelers who love photography.
